That “dysfunctional adoption” still produced an adopted child with a delightful personality and a man with enormous musical talent and charisma with those around him including audiences at the Grand Ol’ Opry for some 17 years. But after the shock of leaving the stage was over, he found a Friend that became more important to him than the applause of the country music audience. Janet Page turned back the pages of her life to recall the shattering experience that broke into her joy with the shock of a thief. Terri Saelee needed much of God’s Spirit when, as a young woman, she responded to His call to work with people from a far-away part of the world whose culture was so different than her own. But, depending on God, she determined to minister to refugees who had lost their own place and had to exist in a situation placing them at deep disadvantage in a world that measures value too often by what is owned and degrees after the name. Terri determined to help them. Mingling with the people, ministering to their needs, getting to know their language and learning their culture won her heart. Linda & Jere Franklin are willing to tell the truly wrenching story of a life-changing explosion that affected their entire family, but particularly impacted their eight-year-old cheerful boy who for years afterwards had to endure repeated hospitalizations and surgeries, with scars and repairs. Through it all the child who had to grow up so fast, seemed to understand that he had been blessed by God in NOT losing his life, so there was no reason not to live a thankful life! Linda’s account of her own journey to acceptance of the disaster is written compellingly, and you will be further blessed if you get her book, Rainbow in the Flames. But whether you do or not, listen to the account shared by these parents who themselves HAD to have power to cope–strength from outside themselves–if they were to watch their son, though scarred for life, become a man, a husband, a father, and a sought-after friend. There’s quite a blessing in this one!

Jerry Page shares a story of a restless past, when, as a teenager, he wanted freedom from restraint and saw rules only as attempts to keep him from the happiness he was sure he was being denied when he had to follow the religious guidelines of parental controls. Jerry went his rebellious way, but the freedom that was so desired was not the dream of a life he had expected. His disappointment with his companions on his wayward path was probably the first thing that truly opened his eyes. He realized those companions–his freedom-loving friends–turned out to be selfish and were not the kind of people he wanted to associate with. Next, thinking it through, he realized the people who had been helpful and kind to him on the downward path he had chosen were people who were part of the very church his parents represented. His amazement led to investigation and submission. He concluded that happiness finally resided with the unselfish–and if that was what church was about–then he was cautionsly willing to plunge in. His story is the story of God’s love wooing back a son that belonged to Him already! This will delight you!

Cliff Goldstein has the soul of an author and focused for over two years on a novel that embodied his thoughts. While other collegiates were obtaining advanced degrees and establishing themselves in the world of business, Cliff was happily making progress on his book.  Like the author that he is, Cliff pondered the big picture in the world around him. One philosophical question troubled his world: the meaninglessness of life. Another followed: it was a search for truth. Those two strains ran parallel in his thinking and begged for resolution. John Fallone and Melissa Summers share words of confidence gained by experience: God does not abandon a person in their hour of sorrow or loss. In this two-part program first aired on Sunday, September 11, John shared his agony as news came to him of a plane crashing into the World Trade Center building just below the office where his younger brother had recently been so thrilled to become a stock trader on Wall Street. The new job that had lasted only a few short weeks proved to be his last. John’s faith trembled in the shock–but he has not let go of good memories of his brother as a young father and a cheerful brother and friend–nor has he let go of the hope in God’s word for a resurrection for believers!Melissa’s loss came differently. She told of a comfortable, rising career as a radio personality, a comfortable marriage with all the reasons to stay in a lifestyle that did not include God but spelled worldly success. But Melissa knew she’d left the God of her childhood. Not knowing who might have been praying for her, she was drawn to return to God. Soon she resigned from her role in radio. Then her husband, unfamiliar with the Christian walk, separated himself from her. A series of losses followed: her car, her house, her clothing…everything destroyed in one catastrophe after another. Shortly thereafter Melissa entered overseas mission work and challenges she never dreamed of–along with joy in service.
